itinerary

day 1.
in the morning we leave at 09.00am in private 4x4 transport, for approx 6 hrs drive to tinqui, a small town located south-east of cusco. during the journey we´ll see many typical villages and panoramas of the peruvian andes. we´ll have a box lunch with a view of our destination and finally arrive for dinner and the night in the hostal in tinqui. l.d.

day 2.
after breakfast we leave for our first days hiking to an area near the small village of upis. you can if you choose soak in the hot springs nearby. from here we have a panoramic view of the face of ausangate, 6372 metres above sea level. b.l.d.

day 3.
we start walking around 8.30 am until the first pass 5000 m . lunch during the trek amongst flocks of llama and alpaca. continue our tour to ausangatecocha (lake ausangate) where we camp. b.l.d.

day 4.
this is considered to be the most difficult day as we climb to an altitude of 5200 mts above sea level.palomani pass , from here we can see many exquisit snow capped mountains in a breathtaking panorama. our campisite for this night wil be near jampa. b.l.d.


day 5.
we leave the campsite as early as possible to visit the ice caves formed by glaciers. we will reach pacchanta for our last campsite where you can relax in the hot springs for the rest of the day. ( pachamanca de despedida ) b.l.d.

day 6.
after breakfast, we begin our walk back to tinqui. your last chance to buy one of the beautifully decorated woolen hats or white beads you´ve seen the locals wearing on your hike. we´ll take transport back to cusco arriving in the late afternoon. b.l.

what is included

  • private 4x4 transportation to tinqui (day 1) and return to cusco (day 6),
  • horsemen and horses to carry all the camping equipment,
  • emergency horse: just in case someone needs help
  • food, fuel, cooking equipment and passengers backpacks (8 kg)
  • all 15 meals during the trip (5 lunches / 5 dinners / 5 breakfasts)
  • expert bilingual guide and assistants
  • accomodation in hostal in tinqui,
  • camping equipment tents and mats
  • dinning tent, boiled water is provided during the trek.
  • optional to climb near to the passes, not technical climbing.
